Method

The pull
The moment a driver angles out of the queue and commits to racing without cover — the single most expensive decision in a harness mile.
Fractionally compromised
A horse whose final time is misleading because the fractions it raced into were faster or slower than the mile it was asked to finish.
Soft seats
Positions in the queue that produce winners out of proportion to the effort they cost — most often the pocket and the rail fifth on a track with a passing lane.
